WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace College's softball team added two commitments under head coach Nora Reece.

Natalie Klingberg will join the Lady Lancers in 2017-18, forming the fifth member of Reece's incoming class (click to see the rest of the 2017 signing class). California-native Andrea Castillo signals the first signing for the 2018-19 season.

Natalie Klingberg is an infielder from powerhouse Crown Point High School. The third baseman finished her career at Crown Point on the ultimate high note, helping the school win their first state championship in 2017.

Klingberg saw the Bulldogs post a 30-2 record in her senior year where she batted .293.

As a junior, Klingberg hit .316 for a team that was ranked No. 1 in the state and the nation for a time. A highlight of the 2016 season was her game-winning RBI single to upset then-No. 1 Penn.

"I felt comfortable and at home when I visited Grace," Klingberg said. "I liked the atmosphere right away, and I knew that this was the place where I wanted to grow in my faith for the next four years."

Klingberg, a native of Crown Point, Ind., hopes to study nursing at Grace.

Andrea Castillo is a catcher from Canyon Country, Calif. She played at West Ranch High School as a valuable contributor to the roster.

Castillo played travel ball with the Firecrackers in California, and she represents the first member of Coach Reece's class of 2018 recruits.

"I chose Grace because I really felt that I would grow and mature in every aspect of my life," Castillo said. "I'm ready to keep working on my game to make myself into the best teammate that I can be."

Castillo's travel coach John Barry added: "Not only is Andrea an outstanding player, but she is a person of great character and conviction. She daily exemplifies what it takes to be successful on and off the field. If I had nine kids like her on the field, I'm not sure we would lose a game because of her competitiveness, knowledge of the game and fight to refuse to lose."
