REDDING, Calif. - Grace College's women's golf team traveled west to get their first taste of action this spring and came away with a second place finish at the Simpson University Invite.
The six team tournament included No. 14 Oregon Tech who the Lancers led by a stroke after the first round and pushed to the wire before ultimately falling by five strokes. Grace was 13 strokes clear of third.
Camille Short led the way for Grace, breaking 80 on both days of the 36-hole tournament. Short shot 77 and 78 respectively, and finished fourth in the 39 player tournament. She was just three strokes behind second place.
Brette Hanavan saw drastic improvement from round one to round two and finished in sixth place. In the second round Hanavan cut 10 strokes off of her opening round total, shooting a 74. Her mark was tied for the third lowest second round total in the tournament.
Grace May also notched a top 10 finish with scores of 78 and 83 to finish in ninth.
Grace Beerman marked two consistent rounds to record an 11th place mark with a score of 162.
Freshman
Trinity Bramer highlighted day one with a score of 75. Her first round score had her just one stroke off the lead after 18 holes. She closed out the tournament with a score of 163.
The Lancers will be back in action on April 7th at Rock Hollow Golf Course.
