WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The unbeaten streak for Grace's men's tennis team continued as the Lancers downed Spring Arbor 8-1 on Saturday.
The Lancers, who are now 4-0, kept pace for the top spot in the Crossroads League and sit tied with Goshen and Marian atop the league standings.
"Entering our fourth conference match, Spring Arbor brought a tough fighting group of tennis players. All three doubles teams pulled out matches that could have gone either way," said Grace head coach Larry Schuh. "But in those moments that could have swung the matches, our teams delivered when it mattered the most. As a coach I could not have been more pleased to see players execute in those big moments."
Grace made its stand in doubles' play, winning all three hotly contested matches. Uros Pajic and Gabe Vervynckt at No. 2 doubles, and Adam Yoder and Caleb Yoder at No. 3 doubles both pulled out 8-6 wins. Danila Kurkulin and Ethan Grove secured the doubles' sweep with an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Grove breezed by his opponent 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, and Pajic was nearly as easy 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
