WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team made quick work of Bethel on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Crossroads League Tournament with a 7-0 sweep.
The Lancers (10-1), enjoying one of their best fall seasons in program history, will host the semifinals of the tournament on Thursday. Grace, the No. 2 seed, will host No. 3 Marian on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Grace secured the victory quickly during singles' play. Fabricio Galvan (No. 3) and David Sandi (No. 4) only lost one game in their matches; Ramiro Candia (No. 2), Pavle Popovic (No. 5) and Mauricio Corty (No. 6) only dropped two games on their courts.
The only drama was saved for the top singles' court. Max Rozas dropped the first set but found resolve to fight back 6-3 in the second set. Rozas's momentum carried into the third set with a 10-6 victory. Rozas was spurred on by a robust cheering section, led by Grace's men's soccer team waiting for the start of their practice.
In doubles' play, Galvan and Ivan Antinori battled to a 6-4 victory at No. 1. Jacob Gray and Candia cruised 6-1 at No. 2 doubles, and Kye Barrett and Milan Savic won 6-0 at No. 3.
