Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team kicked off the spring slate of matches against NCAA Division II No. 7-ranked University of Indianapolis on Wednesday, falling 7-0.
Doubles' play started with
Facundo Paredes and
Ivan Antinori facing off against reigning ITA DII national champions Tom Zeuch and Edgar Destouet, falling 6-0. UIndy locked in the doubles point by knocking off the No. 3 doubles' pairing of
Ramiro Candia and
Nicolas Doria, 6-1.
Switching over to singles' action, the Lancers (14-2) were unable to gain any momentum against a stout Greyhound lineup.
Paredes, No. 2 singles, fell 6-0, 6-0, and
Pablo Gregori, No. 3 singles, dropped his matchup 6-2, 6-2. The clinching point was secured from the No. 1 slot where
Javier Gallego stumbled 6-2, 6-2 as well.
Artur Pons made his Lancer debut in the No. 5 position, but was unable to get over the hump, falling 6-4, 6-3.
Grace will head to Ohio for a pair of matches against No. 4 University of Northwestern Ohio on Feb. 24 and St. Thomas (receiving votes in the NAIA poll) on Feb. 25.
