MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Both of Grace's tennis programs were represented at the ITA Cup in Georgia last week. The Lancers sent four players to the tournament after performing well at the ITA Regionals back in September. This marks the first time in program history that members of the women's team advanced to the ITA Cup.

Pablo Gregori and Salva Pons partnered together to compete in the doubles draw. The pair dropped their opening round matchup in a tiebreaker 6-7, 6-2, 10-4, and moved into the back draw. They knocked off Suarez/Arias of Xavier La., 6-1, 7-5 to complete their week.

Jimena Ramirez and Alejandra Sandoval paired up to tackle the doubles draw. The duo dropped their opening round match to the pair from Keiser University. In the back draw, they picked up a win against Sanchez/Nashiku of McPherson 6-4, 6-3. Their next match was a three-set tiebreaker that went to Bernabeu/Mateu from Linday Wilson 6-3, 3-6, 10-3.

Ramirez also was a participant in the singles draw. She became the first player in program history to compete in both singles and doubles at the ITA Cup. She picked up a three-set victory in the round of 16, defeating Hannah Lindeboom from William Woods 7-5, 5-7, 6-1. In the next round, she faced the No. 1 overall seed, falling 6-0, 6-1. From there she moved to the back draw where she lost to Carpenter of Loyola LA, 7-6, 6-1.

The ITA Cup marks the end of the fall season for both teams. They will resume play in the spring with the men's team preparing for the NAIA Tournament that kicks off in May.
