For the past 15 years, Grace College has helped turn Kosciusko County into Tourney Town every March.
Grace has hosted the national basketball championships for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) since 2009, but the host bid will reach its conclusion following this March.
Grace began by hosting the women's tournament from 2009-11. Due to the positive community support and tournament execution, the NCCAA awarded the men's tournament to Grace in addition to the women's beginning in 2012.
Since that year, Grace has hosted the combined national tournaments, hosting the duo simultaneously in the middle of March at the nationally acclaimed Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
The tournament week brings in 16 teams from across the country, ranging from New York to Texas, from California to Florida, and everywhere in between. During the week, 24 games are played across four days, climaxing with two national champions being crowned each Saturday.
When the final net is cut down this March, Grace will have hosted 216 national tournament games, crowning 27 national champions across that 15-year span.
"We have greatly enjoyed hosting these high-profile tournaments in our town for the past decade and a half. Without fail, the coaches, players and fans have praised the positive experience that they've had in our community during tournament week," said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. "We are thankful for every community partner who has helped bring these teams and guests to the Warsaw/Winona Lake area, and we are grateful to have so many wonderful memories over the past 15 years."
The final tournament is set for March 20-23 at Grace's Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center. More information can be found on Grace's website www.gclancers.com/NCCAA.
