GOSHEN, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team produced a statement win on Tuesday, beating No. 23 Goshen 6-1 on the road.
The win for the No. 19 Lancers breaks open a tie for second place in the Crossroads League standings with the Maple Leafs.
The regular season will end for Grace on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with a match at Spring Arbor. Grace has likely locked up the No. 2 seed in the Crossroads League.
The CL Tournament kicks off next week with the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Against Goshen, Grace won seven of the nine matchups in a definitive victory.
In doubles' play, Grace won at No. 1 doubles — thanks to Mahefa Rakotomalala/Benjamin Rahine (6-2). Goshen countered by winning at No. 2 doubles.
The doubles' point was decided at No. 3. Stergios Papadopoulos and Aurelien Coan produced a timely 7-5 win to start the match on a strong note.
Grace controlled singles' play. Andreas Polichronopoulos won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, Rakotomalala won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, and Rahine was a 7-6, 6-2 victor at No. 2.
Papadopoulos (No. 6) and Marques (No. 3) battled to win in three sets at their courts.
