GOSHEN, Ind. - The Grace College women's tennis team came up short in an upset bid against Goshen, falling 6-1 on Tuesday.
Grace earned one doubles' win when Jimena Ramirez and Faith Valentine produced a hard-fought 7-6 victory at the top doubles' court.
The Maple Leafs, who are receiving votes in the NAIA, took the final two courts to win the doubles' point.
Ramirez also battled her way to an impressive win in singles' play. After dropping the first set 6-4, she rallied to win 6-2, 10-5 to defeat her opponent at No. 1 singles.
The Lancers were unable to win another singles' point, however, as Goshen won 2-6.
The regular season will end for Grace on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with a match at Spring Arbor.
The CL Tournament kicks off next week with the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
