Student-Athlete Day-Off Policy

In accordance with NAIA policy, Grace College’s athletic department has initiated an official Day-Off Policy. This policy’s primary goal is to support student-athlete mental health by providing a guaranteed allotment of time that is free from competition-specific activities.

Grace College has chosen Sunday as its designated time to enforce its Day-Off Policy. On occasion, permission to designate another day can be requested from Grace’s administration (for reasons relating to weather, returning to campus from break, etc.).

Non-allowable competition-specific activities include practices, skill work, weight training and film sessions that are required in attendance and supervised by a member of Grace’s coaching staff.

Allowable activities can include study tables, medical exams, treatment by sports medicine personnel, service projects, team/department banquets, team social events and team travel. Student-athletes may choose to participate in athletic activity during the allotted Day Off, but no such activities will be required by members of Grace’s coaching staff.

This policy will be in effect for the duration of each academic session at Grace. Academic breaks in the calendar would not be included in the Day-Off Policy.

If a student-athlete feels a violation of Grace’s Day-Off Policy has occurred, they may contact Grace’s A.D. Chad Briscoe or Senior Woman Leader Carol McGregor.

This policy is subject to change based on institutional and NAIA policies.
