Angie has practiced yoga herself for nearly 20 years and volunteered to instruct one class during her daughter's Advanced PE class at NorthWood High School. That one session turned into the entire quarter which turned into every school year since, because the feedback has been so positive. Her classes are meant to empower participants to deeply believe in themselves, to appreciate their uniqueness, and to incorporate the practice into their daily lives now and well into the future. Muscle and mind connection, focus on the current moment, a cleansing of mind/body/soul, an appreciation for nature, and a group bond are all take-aways that she focuses on while leading her popular short sessions. Breathing, balance, strength, flexibility, and visualization are weekly components.Â
"My favorite aspect of being invited to instruct a group is getting to know everyone and feeling connected. Preventing injuries before they happen is important for all student-athletes. I believe that yoga is a fun and smart way to effectively do so. I like to include a different affirmation each time to concentrate on being intentional which helps one realize goals and dreams alike."
Angie leads free yoga on Zoom each Wednesday and Friday (something that began in 2020 during the pandemic) and teaches in person at Nappanee Arts Center on US 6 downtown on Mondays at noon. She is available for private sessions too.Â
