Grace College’s athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Blevins as tennis coach.
Blevins has been hired to lead the men’s tennis team. Additionally, he will assume an interim role of coaching the women’s team during the school year while also serving in a leadership role at the Warsaw Racquet Club.
Blevins is no stranger to Winona Lake. He was a star tennis player for the Lancers from 2009-12 and was a key piece in revamping the tennis program at Grace.
He burst onto the scene as a freshman, winning the No. 1 singles tournament championship in the Crossroads League. He went on to win 49 matches in his career (49-28 career record), earning two All-Conference honors.
As a senior he led the Lancers to their first conference championship in 23 years while playing No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles.
“It’s an incredible honor to return to Grace and lead the tennis program,” Blevins said. “I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity. I look forward to investing in our student-athletes – not just in their development as tennis players, but also in their personal growth and faith. That kind of impact shaped my own journey, and I’m excited to give back in the same way.”
Blevins has been heavily involved with tennis since his graduation from Grace. He has served as a tennis professional/director of tennis at multiple venues, including the Tipton Lakes Athletic Club (Columbus, Ind.), Cleveland Skating Club (Ohio) and Evansville Tennis Center (Ind.). He served as a head tennis professional for USTA-PNW in Tacoma, Wash., for a year before returning to his home state in Hawaii where he began his own tennis business.
“We are excited to welcome Michael back to Grace in this role,” said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. “He has a deep understanding of our culture and our mission of Christ-centered athletics to use tennis to impact lives for Christ. His professional tennis coaching experience will serve him well as he leads our programs both on and off the court. We look forward to the lasting impact on our tennis student-athletes under his leadership.”
