HUNTINGTON, Ind. – After suffering a first-set defeat to Huntington in Crossroads League play, Grace's volleyball team kicked into high gear en route to a 3-1 win on Wednesday.
The Lady Lancers (15-7; 8-2 CL) scored 10 block points to stifle the Foresters' offense to a .040 hitting percentage.
Huntington turned in its strongest performance of the night in the opening set. The Foresters (3-14; 2-8 CL) tallied 13 kills and held off the Lady Lancers down the stretch for a 25-21 win.
Grace responded with 13 kills and five errors in the second set to win 25-18. The Lady Lancers' defense was on display in the third set. Huntington was held to a negative hitting percentage of -.217 as Grace won by 11 points.
Their momentum continued into the fourth set as Grace pounded out 13 kills in a 25-19 victory.
Overall, Dana Johnston led all players with 13 kills on a .296 percentage. Johnston had two service aces and five block assists as well.
Alix Underwood impressed with 10 kills, 5 digs, 4 block assists and 1 solo block, and Stefanie Bolt added eight kills and four block assists.
Katie Brueck tied for match honors with 11 digs, Hannah Clemmons chipped in with nine digs, and Christina LeBlanc totaled 37 assists in four sets.
The Lady Lancers will have a week off before welcoming No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan to the Orthopaedic Capital Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
