WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace's women's basketball fell to 7-2 on the season after a poor shooting performance. The Lady Lancers finished just 27 percent shooting from the field in a 68-40 loss to No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan.
The Lady Lancers (7-2; 1-1 Crossroads League) entered the game averaging 66 points per game but finished with a season-low 40 points in the evening.
Grace's turnovers hurt their own cause with 17 turnovers, allowing 19 points to be scored off turnovers for the Wildcats (8-0; 2-0 CL).
The game was tightly contested through most of the first half, but Indiana Wesleyan finished the half on a 9-1 spurt that sparked the Wildcats for the rest of the game.
The Wildcats fueled most of their offensive momentum off of Lady Lancer turnovers, as Indiana Wesleyan entered the halftime break ahead 33-19.
As the second half started, Grace was still within striking distance until IWU's 12 unanswered points midway into the half put the game out of reach.
Grace post players Allison Kauffman and Emily Bidwell combined for 11 points, 8 rebounds and 0 turnovers on the night. They also shot a combined 40 percent from the field.
Juaneice Jackson paced Grace in scoring with nine points to go along with five boards, and Gabby Bryant tallied five points and three assists.
Grace will look to get back on track on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they travel to league foe Huntington University.
