UPLAND, Ind. – Grace's volleyball team saw its winning streak snapped at four as No. 20 Taylor topped the Lady Lancers in three sets on Saturday.
The Lady Lancers (11-5; 6-2 Crossroads League) could not find their rhythm on the offensive side of the net, allowing the Trojans (12-4; 7-2 CL) to win in three sets.
Taylor made a spurt midway through the first set to break open a 9-9 tie. Grace's offense never fully clicked as the Lady Lancers recorded more attacking errors (9) than kills (6) in their eight-point loss in the first set.
Grace kicked back into gear with a team hitting percentage of .219 in the second set. Despite an improved offensive display, Grace found themselves trailing by two sets with a 25-19 defeat.
The Lady Lancers never tasted the lead in the third set as the Trojans closed out the sweep with a 25-18 win.
Dana Johnston was Grace's most reliable offensive weapon in the loss. She tallied seven kills on 19 attempts to go along with one block and one block assist.
Alicia Gosney added seven kills and two block assists, and Arielle Walters chipped in with five kills and two block assists.
Calah Kruse led all players with 15 digs, and Bethany Whitcraft had 11.
Christina LeBlanc dished out 26 assists – five of which went to Stefanie Bolt.
