WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace's women's tennis team started out the 2012 season with a 9-0 loss to Spring Arbor at Miller Field on Tuesday.

The Lady Lancers (0-1; 0-1 CL) were not able to snatch a point in doubles play against the Cougars. Nicole Beguin and Janelle Hess put up the strongest fight at No. 2 doubles, narrowly falling 8-6.

The Cougars (1-2; 1-2 CL) swept the Lady Lancers in singles competition. Freshman Taryn Wuensch was within striking distance at No. 2 singles but was edged out 6-4, 6-2.

Both Beguin (No. 3 singles) and Sarah Hinkel (No. 5 singles) each took their second set to a 6-4 score, but Spring Arbor proved too much to handle in Grace's season opener.

The Lady Lancers will continue league play with a home match on Wednesday against Marian University at 3 p.m.
