MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Grace's women's tennis team fell short on the road against Bethel College on Wednesday, losing 6-3 to the Pilots.
The Lady Lancers (1-4; 1-3 Crossroads League) were highlighted by Katie Etter, who picked up a point for Grace in singles and doubles.
Etter teamed up with Sarah Hinkel at No. 3 doubles to claim an 8-4 victory. Their win proved to be Grace's only doubles' point, however.
Etter went on to win in two sets against her opponent at No. 6 singles. Gabrielle Lawrence also found victory, battling to a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 win at No. 5 singles.
Lawrence nearly won again at No. 2 doubles with Jayna Huber before ultimately falling 8-5.
"We had our opportunities but came up just a little short today," said Grace head coach Scott Moore. "I thought Katie Etter played her best tennis of the season. We need to rebound quickly as we travel to a very good Taylor team tomorrow."
The Lady Lancers will look to get back on the winning track with a match on Thursday at Taylor and on Saturday hosting Goshen.
