Lady Lancers unable to slow Wildcats on the road

MARION, Ind. – Grace's volleyball team had a balanced attack on Saturday, but the Lady Lancers could not keep pace with Crossroads League leader Indiana Wesleyan in a three-set defeat.

All three sets were within reach for the Lady Lancers as the 25-20 score in the opener proved to be the largest margin of victory.

The Wildcats went on to win 25-21 in the second set before pulling out a two-point win in the clinching third set.

While the Lady Lancers (11-4; 3-5 CL) hit at a respectable .174 team hitting percentage, the Wildcats (13-4; 8-1 CL) flexed their muscles with a .229 percentage. Indiana Wesleyan also notched eight block points compared to one for Grace.

Four players for Grace had at least six kills, led by Dana Johnston and her eight kills. Calah Kruse added seven kills and 14 digs, and Hannah Clemmons led all players with 19 digs.

Taylor Baird handed out 31 assists, Kaitlin Kerrigan tallied 10 digs, and Megan Johnson and Alix Underwood recorded six kills apiece.

Grace will look to bounce back on Wednesday night when they welcome Goshen to the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
