WINONA LAKE, Ind. - One of the best small-school rivalries continues on Saturday as Grace hosts Bethel for a women's/men's doubleheader at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
The women's game will start at 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow at approximately 3 p.m.
The Lady Lancers and Pilots are currently tied for third place in the Crossroads League with 2-1 records. Grace, who is led by
Juaneice Jackson and reigning CL Player of the Week
Allison Kauffman, will look to avenge a pair of losses last season to the Pilots.
The men's game has a thrilling history as the series dates back to 1960. The head-to-head matchup is incredibly tied at 60-60 entering Saturday's contest at the MOCC. The Lancers won the last matchup between the squads 96-83 in Mishawaka.
Both the Lancers and the Pilots are coming off wins against NAIA Top-25 opponents. Grace knocked off No. 23 Ashford at home while Bethel defeated No. 12 Northwood by three in Florida. The Lancers are led in scoring by
Greg Miller (19.9 ppg) and
Niko Read (13.3 ppg).
Saturday's doubleheader is part of "Biomet Day" at the MOCC. All employees of Biomet along with immediate family receive free admission to the Grace/Bethel games. Any local student will also get into Saturday's games for free.
