Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Taylor drops Men’s Soccer on the road

UPLAND, Ind. – Grace's men's soccer team had its three-game winning streak snapped in the regular-season finale on Saturday 2-0 against Taylor.

The Lancers (9-6-1, 4-4-1 Crossroads League) finished the regular season fifth in the CL standings. Grace will travel to fourth-seeded Spring Arbor on Nov. 1 in the quarterfinals of the CL Tournament.

Despite even stats across the board, Grace was unable to grab its fourth consecutive victory. Grace and Taylor each had 12 shots, and six of the Trojans' attempts were on goal compared to four for the Lancers.

The Trojans (12-5, 7-2 CL) struck first in the 34th minute. A 2-on-1 breakaway took advantage of Grace's defense for the game's first goal. The teams entered halftime with Taylor on top, 1-0.

In the second half, Grace outshot Taylor 7-6. But less than 10 minutes after halftime, Taylor had doubled its lead with a finish off a cross.

The Lancers tried desperately to battle back, controlling the final minutes of the game. Over the last 10 minutes, Grace outshot Taylor 5-0 and also had a corner kick to no avail.

Ben Cahill led the Lancers with four shots and two shots on goal. Josiah O'Deens, Danilo Carnelos and Kyle Hamlin also had two shots.

Grace and its first-round opponent Spring Arbor played in a six-goal scoring spree on Oct. 8 with the Cougars winning 4-2 in Michigan.
