WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Natalia Kurkova earned the only victory for Grace's women's tennis team in an 8-1 loss to Marian on Tuesday.
The Lady Lancers fell to 2-5 on the season and 1-5 in the Crossroads League.
"Marian is a great team, and coach Cassie Mackell does a terrific job," said Grace head coach Scott Moore. "Although it won't show up on the scoreboard, we got better tonight. I think we will have a strong finish in our last four matches leading into the league tournament."
Kurkova beat Marian's No. 1 singles' player in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Kristin Cassidy won one game in each set of her loss at No. 2 singles, and Sarah Hinkel lost 2-6 in the second set at No. 4 singles.
Kurkova and Cassidy fell 5-8 at No. 1 doubles, and Gabrielle Lawrence and Mariah Zumbrun lost 4-8.
The Lady Lancers have two home matches remaining in the week. Grace will play Olivet College on Thursday at 4 p.m. and Bethel on Saturday at 10 a.m.
