WHITING, Ind. - Grace's women's basketball team picked up its first road win of the season 83-44 over Calumet St. Joseph on Friday.
Ten players scored for the Lady Lancers (3-3), including six players with at least eight points.
Grace's defense proved to be stifling for the Crimson Wave (0-4). CCSJ was held to 29 percent shooting and committed 27 turnovers. The Lady Lancers scored 28 points off CCSJ's miscues in the route.
The Lady Lancers doubled up CCSJ after just one quarter of play. Haley Richardson ripped off Grace's first eight points and finished with 10 for the quarter, leading the visitors to a 22-11 lead after the first 10 minutes.
In the second quarter, Grace ballooned its lead up to 25 at 46-21 on a Kelsie Peterson 3-pointer; Grace went into halftime with a 48-24 advantage.
The contest only got worse for the Crimson Wave in the second half. Grace eventually led by 40 and coasted to its 39-point victory.Â
The Lady Lancers dominated in the post, outrebounding the Crimson Wave by 11 and outscoring them 34-18 in the paint. Grace also earned an impressive 51 points off the bench.
Richardson led Grace in scoring with 16 points and added five rebounds and five assists. She made 8-of-14 from the floor.
Sarah Feasby was an efficient 6-of-8 shooting for 14 points, and Jesse Feitz made 4-of-5 for 10 points to go along with eight boards.Â
Jenna Kieper and Kelsey Sule plagued the Crimson Wave from the 3-point line as each buried a trio of treys, and Kelsie Peterson hit two more 3's for eight points and four steals.
Maycee Davis amassed 7 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds, and Gabby Miller added five points and three rebounds.
The Lady Lancers will take on a NCAA Div. I foe on Monday, traveling to IPFW at 5 p.m. for an exhibition against the Mastodons. Grace will return home next weekend for the Terry Polston Hoops for Hope on Nov. 20-21.
