MARION, Ind. – Grace's men's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the season at Indiana Wesleyan on Tuesday.
The Lancers (4-1, 4-1 Crossroads League) were close in nearly every position, but the Wildcats (3-2, 2-2 CL) pulled out an 8-1 win.
Doubles' play was fiercely competitive. Uros Pajic and Gabe Vervynckt lost a narrow 8-6 decision at No. 2 doubles, and freshmen Adam Yoder and Caleb Yoder lost 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Danila Kurkulin earned the only win of the day for Grace, pulling out a 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 win at No. 1 singles. Grove battled to a 3-6, 5-7 defeat at No. 3, and Ricardo Bedon lost a hard-fought 5-7, 1-6 loss at No. 4 singles.
The Lancers will turn their focus to the ITA Tournament for the rest of the week.
