INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The four-match winning streak for Grace's women's soccer team was halted on Saturday with a 3-0 loss at Marian.
The Lady Lancers (12-9, 4-5 Crossroads League) struggled offensively with a .060 hitting percentage and fell in straight sets.
Marian had 14 kills in the opening set en route to a 25-20 win. The Knights (3-7, 3-6 CL) had their most efficient set during the second game. Marian produced 13 kills on just three errors, taking a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 victory.
Grace nearly pulled off a comeback in the third set. Marian won the first point of the set and never trailed. The Lady Lancers were in a 24-21 hole but managed to recover and tie the score with a kill by Kaitlin Kerrigan, an error by Marian and a block from Sierra Smith and Tori Bontrager. The Knights bounced back to win the final two rallies and clinch the match 26-24.
Kerrigan and Smith led Grace's offense with seven kills apiece, and Kerrigan added 14 digs. Kari Feddema produced 4 kills, 1 solo block and 2 block assists, and Sara Miller notched 14 digs.
Laken Chaney had 16 assists, 6 digs and 2 block assists, and Jessica Scherb tallied seven digs.
The Lady Lancers will hope to regain their winning ways on Wednesday at Bethel at 7 p.m.
