No. 15 IWU sweeps Lady Lancers

MARION, Ind. - Grace's volleyball team was unable to handle a strong offensive night from No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday night.

The Lady Lancers (11-16, 5-8 Crossroads League) struggled to contain IWU's offense, which hit at a .283 percentage in the 3-0 sweep.

Grace's offense, on the other hand, struggled to a .090 hitting percentage as a team

The match could not have started better for the visitors. Grace grabbed a 6-2 lead early, showcasing tremendous energy.

But IWU quickly recovered, winning eight of the next nine rallies to take the lead for good. The Wildcats (26-2, 13-0 CL) went on to win 25-19.

Grace gave up the first four points in the second set and never came back. IWU coasted to a 10-point win to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Despite facing a sweep on the road, Grace fought tough in the third set. Grace rallied from an early deficit to tie the game numerous times.

With Grace trailing narrowly 20-19, IWU scored three of the next four points to gain the separation it needed. The Wildcats secured the win with a 25-22 victory in the third.

Kelsee Zuidema led Grace's attack with 10 kills to go along with two block assists. Taylor Baird was one of Grace's most promising attackers on the night with five kills on seven attempts. She also added 17 assists and seven digs.

Kaitlin Kerrigan produced 10 digs and four kills, Savannah Hart had one solo and two block assists, and Caylie Teel notched a team-best 14 digs.

The Lady Lancers have three home matches next. Grace will look to snap its seven-match losing streak on Friday with a home game against Spring Arbor at 7 p.m. Grace also hosts St. Francis on Saturday at 4 p.m. for the team's Senior Day.
