MARION, Ind. - In a rematch of last year's Crossroads League Tournament championship, Indiana Wesleyan got the better of Grace's men's soccer team 1-0 on Wednesday.
The Lancers (6-4-2, 1-3 CL) were held to four shots, including only one shot after halftime.
The Wildcats (6-4-2, 1-2-1 CL) scored the game's only goal in the 31st minute, finishing off a header in the penalty box off a cross.
Grace had an early chance in the opening minutes, but a chipped attempt from Thomas Tydeman went high off the crossbar.
Breno Oliveira had a few shots go errant, and the Lancers were unable to take another shot for the final 33 minutes of the first half.
Almost 20 minutes into the second half, Grace created another opportunity on a quick counterattack. The ball came to Daniel Smith, and his long shot forced a save.
Unfortunately for Grace, no more shots could be found for the final 26 minutes of regulation.
The Lancers have now dropped three straight 1-0 games. Grace will look to bounce back on Saturday with a home game against St. Francis at 7 p.m.
