Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The 2016 season for Grace's volleyball team wrapped up on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Crossroads League Tournament.
Marian beat the Lady Lancers (14-19) in three sets, winning 25-20, 25-22, 25-17.
The loss also ends the standout careers of seniors Taylor Baird, Megan Johnson, Kaitlin Kerrigan and Grace Woolsey. The foursome racked up 83 wins in their careers.
Tori Bontrager and Kelsee Zuidema led Grace's attack with seven kills apiece, and both players added two block assists.
Baird had a double-double in her final outing with 26 assists, 12 digs and 2 aces. Caylie Teel led all players with 21 digs, and Kari Feddema and Marta Bleed each had five kills.
Marian gained separation from Grace in the early goings of the first set and never faded. The Knights led by as many as seven before Grace pushed back to make the score 21-18. But Marian won four of the next six rallies to end the opener.
In the second set, Grace led 5-2 before a 7-1 run gave the Knights the lead for good. The Lady Lancers struggled to sustain a long rally to puncture Marian's lead and ultimately lost by three.
The Knights ended the match in the third. Marian maintained a slight cushion over Grace throughout the game en route to a 25-17 win.
The Knights (22-11) had their way offensively with Grace. The Knights hit at a .246 percentage with 45 kills.
Grace, on the other hand, had 33 kills and 18 errors for a .139 percentage.
Woolsey had four kills in her final match, and Kerrigan added six digs. Alexa Hill tacked on 11 digs to end her freshman season.
