No. 20 Taylor stifles Women’s Soccer

UPLAND, Ind. - The Crossroads League opener did not go as planned for Grace's women's soccer team on Saturday.

The Lady Lancers lost on the road to No. 20 Taylor by the score of 3-0.

Grace was unable to generate a consistent attack in the match, totaling just five shots in the 90 minutes with two corner kicks.

The Trojans (8-2, 1-0 Crossroads League) needed a ricochet to score in the first half. Taylor scored off a redirected kick in the 23rd minute and went into halftime ahead 1-0.

At the 59:15 mark, Grace was called for a foul in the penalty box. Taylor promptly doubled its lead with a penalty kick strike, and five minutes later, the Trojans scored their third goal.

Grace had two shots over the final 22 minutes, but Autumn Raulerson's shot was saved, and Liz Van Wormer's attempt went wide.

Of Grace's five recorded shots, two were from Allison Vroon. Kristen Bellinger also tallied a shot in the match.

The Lady Lancers return home on Wednesday, hosting No. 16 Marian for a 7 p.m. match at 1st Source Bank Field.
