CLERMONT, Fla. - Grace's softball team began their spring break trip in Florida with a split on Saturday.

The Lady Lancers (3-3) rallied to beat Cornerstone on Saturday morning 4-3 before falling to No. 15 Davenport 7-2.

In the opener, Grace scored all four of its runs in the final four innings. Chandler Elliott pitched a complete game from the mound to lead Grace to victory.

Cornerstone led 2-0 for the first three innings. The Lady Lancers rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. Ashley Kleinbub and Kyleigh Garner hit back-to-back RBI doubles to make the score 2-2.

In the fifth inning, both teams scored a single run. Elaina McClellan doubled and advanced to third on a single from Hannah Herbster. Abby Mozingo's ground ball then drove in McClellan for another game-tying run.

After the Golden Eagles were held scoreless in the top of the sixth, Grace produced the eventual game winner in the bottom half. The first two batters were retired to start the inning for Grace, but Olivia Scarbrough started a rally with a walk.

Kati Gregory walked on the next at-bat, and Paige Hlutke was hit to load the bases. Herbster then produced a single to the left side to plate Scarbrough for a 4-3 lead.

Elliott secured the win by shutting down Cornerstone in the top of the seventh. Elliott allowed just four hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out two in a strong performance.

Herbster batted 2-for-4 with a steal from the leadoff position, and Kleinbub was 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a steal.

Grace came up short against No. 15 Davenport in the second game, losing their second game of the season to the Panthers.

The Lady Lancers are back in action on Monday with a tripleheader against Bellevue, Cardinal Stritch and West Virginia Tech.
