Game Recap: Softball |

Softball falls to Trinity, IWU

VERO BEACH, Fla. - A night doubleheader went sour for Grace's softball team on Tuesday.

The Lady Lancers lost to Trinity International 9-6 in the opener before dropping to Crossroads League foe Indiana Wesleyan 10-1 in the late game.

One poor inning undid Grace's game against the Trojans. The Lady Lancers held Trinity International to just one combined run in six of the seven innings, but TIU won the game with an eight-run third inning.

The Lady Lancers actually led 3-0 after their turn to bat in the top of the third. But the Trojans batted around the order, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the third to change the script of the game.

Grace was unable to muster enough runs in response. The Lady Lancers did tack on three in a last-gasp rally attempt during the seventh inning, but Grace finished three runs short of a complete comeback.

Emily Bobb hit 2-for-3 in the loss with a double and a run scored. Clarissa Knight had one hit and two stolen bases, and Abby Mozingo was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Against IWU, the Lady Lancers were sloppy in the field. Grace committed three errors, allowing the Wildcats to ease away for a 10-1 win.

Hannah Herbster, Ashley Kleinbub and Elaina McClellan were the only Lady Lancers able to produce a hit in the loss.

Grace is back in action on Thursday afternoon, taking on Siena Heights and Fisher.
