INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - A sluggish offensive night cost Grace's volleyball team a 3-0 defeat at Marian on Wednesday.
As a team the Lady Lancers (6-4, 1-1 Crossroads League) hit at a .097 percentage with 22 attack errors in the three sets.Â
Grace put up a fight in all three sets. Marian used a massive 13-3 run to effectively win the opener.
The Knights (9-1, 1-0 CL) held a 22-13 run before Grace could recover. The Lady Lancers went on to win nine of the next 11 rallies to make the score 24-22, but Marian secured the first-game victory with a kill.
In the second set, Grace was still within four points of Marian's lead in the latter stages. But the Knights pulled away to win 25-18.
The third set saw Grace grab a 16-14 lead midway into the game. Marian responded by claiming the next four points and never trailed again en route to a 25-22 win.
Lexy Oppenhuis led all players with 12 kills on a .242 percentage, and Kari Feddema and Sierra Smith each had seven kills.
Alexa Hill recorded a double-double of 28 assists and 10 digs, and Sara Miller (19 digs), Emily Sharp (13) and Caylie Teel (12) all reached double-digit digs.
The Lady Lancers end the week with a road match at Spring Arbor on Friday and a home game on Saturday against St. Francis.
