Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Grace sinks IWU on the road

CONVERSE, Ind. - Grace's men's soccer team jumped into second place in the Crossroads League with a 3-1 win at Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday.

A trio of goalscorers paced the Lancers (9-2-3, 3-0-2 CL), increasing Grace's unbeaten streak to six games.

Grace dominated much of the first half, outshooting the Wildcats 10-5. The Lancers scored early and late in the opening half.

Cody Boerema started the scoring at the 7:36 mark with an unassisted goal.

With four minutes to go in the half, Grace doubled its lead. Ulisses Miranda found Damon Binkley for a goal at the 40:35 mark as Grace went ahead 2-0.

The score was nearly 3-0 at halftime, but a last-minute shot by Boerema bounced off the goalpost.

The Wildcats (7-5-1, 1-3-1 CL) were quick to respond in the second half. IWU scored only five minutes into the second half to keep pressure on Grace.

Grace's offense went dry in the middle portions of the half, going nearly 20 minutes between shot attempts.

The Lancers' defense, however, held firm. Grace limited IWU to just two shots over the final 19 minutes of regulation.

Miranda added the icing on the cake with an insurance goal in the 89th minute.

Boerema's six shots led all players, Miranda added four shots, and Togo Narusawa shot three times.

Wednesday's match was moved to Oak Hill High School in Converse, Ind., a day prior due to poor conditions at IWU's field.

The Lancers end the week at Mt. Vernon Nazarene on Saturday at 4 p.m.
