WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's women's basketball team could not keep pace with No. 9 Indiana Tech on Friday, losing 67-49.

The Lady Lancers (2-3) struggled with their shot throughout the game against the tall, athletic Warriors' squad. Grace shot just 32 percent from the floor.

The Warriors (3-1) jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter, and Grace never made up the difference.

Indiana Tech outscored Grace 19-8 in the opening period; the Lady Lancers shot just 3-of-14 (21 percent) as a team, which included 1-of-7 from the 3-point line.

The remaining three quarters were also won by the Warriors, but none of those three quarters were decided by more than three points.

Grace went into halftime behind 33-20. Kamryn Hostetler was the only Lady Lancer able to produce offensively in the first half, scoring nine of the team's 20 points to go along with two assists.

In the third quarter, Vironnica Drake sparked a 10-0 run for Grace. She scored five points during Grace's spurt, cutting the Warriors' lead down to eight.

But Grace's offense hit a cold spell; the Lady Lancers were scoreless for the final 3:23 of the third quarter and the opening two minutes of the fourth. The Warriors took advantage to grab a 21-point lead, coasting until the final buzzer.

Hostetler finished with 14 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, and Drake added 12 points, 4 boards and 2 steals.

Kaylie Warble produced five points and nine rebounds, and Brooke Sugg and Pam Miller each scored five.

The Lady Lancers end the week at Indiana Wesleyan, playing Friday and Saturday at the Leah Whitaker Tournament. Grace plays No. 21 Lawrence Tech on Friday and Holy Cross on Saturday.
