Box Score 4 TUCSON, Ariz. - Grace's softball team put on an offensive showcase during its Spring Break trip to Arizona.
The Lady Lancers scored 116 runs in 12 games and hit .383 collectively. Grace plated at least eight runs in eight of the 12 contests and posted a 4-8 record in Arizona.
Grace run-ruled four teams, including 18-1 against Roosevelt, 14-5 against Dakota Wesleyan, and 9-1 against both Park and Viterbo.
Freshman Britney Young enjoyed a dynamic week at the plate. Young batted .488 with 12 starts, racking up 21 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple and 9 RBIs.
Hannah Herbster had a strong week as well with 22 hits in 12 games, batting .431 with 16 runs, 11 RBIs and 8 stolen bases.
Morgan Tapscott led all players on the week with 15 RBIs, and Ashley Kleinbub was dangerous with 13 RBIs and seven extra-base hits: 3 doubles, 3 triples and 1 home run.
Mariah Roman homered twice and hit .353, and Sam Heim (.419), Olivia Scarbrough (.400), Dori Knight (.400), Chandler Elliott (.395), Abby Mozingo (.346) and Emily Bobb (.343) all hit at least .340.
Knight pitched seven games to lead Grace from the mound, tossing 27.1 innings with three complete games and a 5.12 ERA.
Also of note, one of Grace's losses came 5-4 in five innings against Dickinson State — a game in which the contest was called after five innings when the field lights were shut off mid-game for the night.
The Lady Lancers begin Crossroads League play on the road this week, playing Bethel on Wednesday, St. Francis on Friday and Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday.
Grace's home opener is scheduled for March 20 against Marian at the Miller Athletic Complex.
