ADRIAN, Mich. - Grace's women's tennis team shut out Adrian College on the road Thursday.
The Lady Lancers (8-2) blasted Adrian 9-0 without No. 1 singles and doubles' player Emily Mast.
Grace got off to a fast start by winning all three doubles' points. Carrie Copeland and Molly Fitzpatrick earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
Jenna Jackson and Jayna Armstrong won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, and Morgan Mast and Shelby Bankson were victorious 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Armstrong did not drop a game at No. 3 singles, and Morgan Mast won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Bankson picked up a fast 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles, and Jackson also won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Copeland (5-7, 6-3, 10-4) at No. 1 singles and Fitzpatrick (6-1, 1-6, 10-4) at No. 4 singles each battled to a three-set victory in singles to complete the sweep.
"The girls dealt well with the long bus ride and the new opponent. We weren't sharp in doubles, but they did a nice job cleaning some things up in singles," said Grace head coach Marcus Moore. "We were fortunate to win two matches that went to a third tiebreak."
