INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Grace's women's tennis team was unable to upset Marian on Tuesday, losing 6-3 in a tightly contested match.
The Lady Lancers (9-3, 6-3 Crossroads League) wrap up the conference portion of the regular season and could be seeded as high as No. 3, depending on how the remaining matches conclude this week.
Emily Mast had the strongest showing of the day for Grace. She teamed up with Jenna Jackson to win 9-7 at No. 1 doubles, Grace's only doubles' win. She then quickly dispatched her opponent at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2.
Carrie Copeland and Molly Fitzpatrick barely lost 7-9 at No. 2 doubles, and Jayna Armstrong was close at No. 4 singles with a 4-6, 5-7 scoreline.
Morgan Mast was the lone other Lady Lancer to win in singles as she claimed a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 6.
"The girls played well today and had chances at a few other spots," said Grace head coach Marcus Moore. "We need to continue to improve and take advantage of deuce games for us to get where we want to go."
The Lady Lancers continue play tomorrow with a home match against Trine at 4 p.m.
