Grace sets scoring record in rout

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace college's women's basketball set a new team record for points on Saturday afternoon with a 117-38 defeat of Holy Family.

Grace (6-1) led from start to finish and pummeled Holy Family (0-5) with one of the most dominant games in team history.

The 117 points that Grace scored beat the previous program record of 111, set in 1995 against Rose-Hulman. 

Four players had double digits, and all 15 of the Lady Lancers got on the score sheet. The bench contributed 66 points to Grace's record total.

The Lady Lancers shot a blistering 88 percent in the opening quarter, including 7-of-8 from the three-point line. Grace's ferocious defense forced 14 turnovers which resulted in 22 points. 

Brooke Treadway was one of nine Lady Lancers to score in the period, and she led all players with eight points. Maddie Ryman put an exclamation mark on the quarter when she sunk a half court buzzer beater to give Grace a 47-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Grace pulled back the reins in the second quarter as the entire bench saw playing time. The Lady Lancers continued to build on the lead, taking a 55-point advantage into the half at 67-12.

Treadway led the Lady Lancers with 12 points and five rebounds, and Micaela Box chipped in nine points and three rebounds off the bench.

Grace had 22 fast break points and scored 31 points in the paint before halftime. The Lady Lancers shot 66 percent from the field and 61 percent from deep. Grace also had a 26-9 advantage in rebounds.

Grace's starters scored 19 points in the opening four minutes of the second half before being subbed out for good. Kyannah Stull led the starters with 15 points, and Vironnica Drake filled the stat sheet with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Rachel Montgomery put Grace over the century mark with 50 second left in the third quarter, putting in a shot after an offensive rebound. The Lady Lancers led 100-24 going into the final quarter.

The Lady Lancers relied on their bench the entire fourth quarter as they coasted to a 117-38 win. Grace's 79-point win was one point away from the largest win in team history.

Freshman Nikki Toth finished the game eight points and seven rebounds. Fellow first-year Lady Lancer Mackenzie Pulley added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Lady Lancers finished the game shooting 52 percent from the field and held a 57-25 edge in rebounds. 

Treadway narrowly missed the double-double with 16 points and eight rebounds. Kaylie Warble was a force in the paint with 14 points and three offensive boards.

The Lady Lancers will remain home on Nov. 23 with a nonconference matchup with Judson at the Manahan Orthopedic Capital Center.
