Grace plays exhibition at No. 14 Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Grace's women's basketball squad traveled to Tennessee on Saturday for an exhibition game against No. 14 Lee University.

The Lady Lancers (2-0) struggled in the first half but made a statement in the third quarter. Kamryn Hostetler and Micaela Box led the offense with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

The Flames compete in NCAA Division II and are the reigning champions of the Gulf South Conference.

Grace came out in its typical aggressive style, forcing a couple quick turnovers with the press. After three minutes, the Lady Lancers held an 8-2 lead.

Lee responded with a 22-6 run to close out the first quarter with a 10-point lead.

At the start of the second quarter, the Lady Lancer offense started to click. Box hit a timely triple to snatch some momentum for Grace.

However, turnovers plagued the Lady Lancers in the first half. Lee took advantage of the miscues, stretching the lead to 35 points at the half.

Lee shot over 60 percent from the floor in the first half.

Grace came out of halftime on a mission. In their trademark press, the Lady Lancers produced some quick momentum.

Lexi Minix created a turnover, and Hostetler converted the layup.

Kaylie Warble drew two fouls in just 20 seconds, forcing the Lee defense to ease up.

The Lady Lancers' swarming defense produced steal after steal, taking the ball out of the hands of the efficient Lee shooters.

With a deep three just before the end of the quarter, Kyannah Stull closed out Grace's strongest quarter of the day. Grace outscored Lee 21-17 in the third quarter.

Grace continued to show improvement in the final quarter, battling back and responding to big runs by the Flames, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

Lee took the exhibition match by a score of 102-59.

Stull tallied 10 points and four rebounds, and Warble chipped in six boards.

The Lady Lancers travel to Goshen on Friday for the Goshen Classic.
