HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Grace's women's soccer team remained unbeaten on the young season with a 2-1 win at Huntington on Monday.

The No. 14 Lady Lancers were playing their second match in three days after beating Taylor on Saturday. Grace will also play again on Wednesday at home against rival No. 24 Spring Arbor, making a stretch of three games in five days.

For the match Grace held an impressive 21-4 advantage in shot attempts. The Lady Lancers (3-0-1, 2-0-1 Crossroads League) hit the goalpost multiple times and had 10 shots on goal in a thorough offensive display.

Grace started the game with an intent to score, firing off six shots in the first 20 minutes compared to one shot for HU.

But the Foresters shocked the Lady Lancers with the game's first goal. Grace made a defensive error deep in its own end of the field, and the Foresters capitalized to go ahead 1-0.

Grace was rapid with a response. Less than 10 minutes later, the score was tied.

Amber Meade played a long pass toward Huntington's penalty box. Lea Moessinger alertly headed the ball behind the Forester's defensive line, and JJ Aalbue received the pass and beat the goalkeeper 1v1.

The Lady Lancers were not content to be tied, however. With five minutes remaining in the half, Aalbue fired a low, hard shot at Huntington's goalkeeper. The shot was blocked wide, but Victoria Lucido followed up with a rebound goal. The goal marked Lucido's second goal in as many games.

Grace led 2-1 at halftime while taking nine of the 11 shot attempts of the half.

The second half was much of the same. Huntington was muted to two shots, while Grace controlled the ball and the pace of the game.

The Lady Lancers fired 12 shots after halftime, but all were either saved or off the mark. Overall, Grace has outscored its opponents 10-2 this year.

Aalbue led all players with six shots, outshooting the Foresters by herself. Lucido's three shots were second on the team, and Alexis Larimore, Riley Koch, Lea Fricke and Adelee Gartner each tried two shots.

Blackwood made three saves in 90 minutes to record the shutout.

The Lady Lancers' home match with Spring Arbor on Wednesday kicks off at 7 p.m.
