SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Grace College women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins over Crossroads League opponents St. Francis and Spring Arbor on Thursday. 

In the first match of the afternoon, the Lady Lancers cruised to a 7-0 win over the Cougars (1-3, 1-3 CL).

Jayna Armstrong and Dayana Ortega started the day off with a perfect 6-0 win in doubles action. Ellie Hughes and Lauryn Riegsecker clinched the doubles' point for Grace with a hard fought 6-4 win.

Anna Graves and Gretchen Adams also won their doubles' contest 6-1.

At the top singles' spot for the Lady Lancers, Hughes won 6-3, 6-1. Ortega swept both sets (6-0) at the No. 2 spot, and Graves clinched the match with a pair of victories, (6-1, 6-3) at No. 3 singles.

The remaining Lady Lancers — Riegsecker (No. 4 singles), Morgan Mast (No. 5) and Kiersten Martin (No. 6) — also picked up two-set victories.

Grace capped off the day with a 5-2 victory over the host Spring Arbor (2-2, 1-2 CL).

The Lady Lancers once again took the doubles' point with all three pairs winning their sets.

Armstrong and Ortega won doubles 6-1 from the top slot. Hughes and Riegsecker along with Martin and Mast each won their matches 6-3 to blank the Cougars in doubles.

Grace faced its first adversity of the day when they dropped the top singles' court. 

Armstrong responded well for the Lady Lancers winning in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) from the No. 3 slot. Ortega also picked up a 2-1 win by default.

Riegsecker and Martin secured the win for Grace, winning in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.

The Lady Lancers will return to action on Friday at 3:30 p.m. when they play host to Adrian.
