WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team picked up a pivotal win on Monday, defeating No. 19 Marian 5-2.
The Lancers kept their perfect season intact, improving to 6-0 in the Crossroads League.Â
The win sets up a likely league-deciding doubleheader on Wednesday. Only three undefeated teams remain in the league (Grace, Huntington, Indiana Wesleyan). All three will play each other on Wednesday at IWU.Â
Grace faces the host IWU on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. followed by Huntington at 1:30 p.m. The Lancers (6-0, 6-0 CL) will have completed the league season after Wednesday's matches.
The Lancers were in a battle with the Knights (2-2, 2-2 CL) at nearly every court. Max Rozas and Fabricio Galvan muscled to a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Ramiro Candia and Mauricio Corty clinched the doubles' point with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
In singles, Galvan got Grace off to a strong start with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3. Pavle Popovic finished soon after, picking up a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5.
Rozas secured the team victory at the top singles' court, winning 6-2, 6-4. David Sandi added an insurance point with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 victory at No. 4 singles.
