UPLAND, Ind. - Grace's women's basketball team was unable to take down Taylor on the road during a 76-60 defeat on Saturday.

The Lady Lancers (9-7, 1-6 Crossroads League) were held to their fourth-lowest scoring output of the season as Taylor completed the season sweep.

Maddie Ryman began the game with a 3-pointer, but Grace's offense was sporadic to start the game. 

The Lady Lancers needed four more minutes to score again. Kaylee Patton hit back-to-back triples, and Kamryn Hostetler made another to put Grace on top 12-7.

But that proved to be the final points of the quarter for Grace. The Trojans ended the quarter with 12 straight points thanks to Grace's drought over the final 4:28.

Grace only scored on those four 3-pointers. For the quarter Grace shot 25 percent (4 of 16) compared to 58 percent for Taylor (7 of 12).

Hostetler caught fire in the second quarter to apply pressure on the Trojans. She drilled four 3-pointers for Grace, including two from well beyond the arc.

Another late triple from Kiersten Poor closed the gap as Grace trailed by just four at halftime, 38-34.

Hostetler led all scorers with 17 points at halftime, shooting 5 of 6 from the 3-point line.

Grace shot 9 of 18 (50 percent) on 3-pointers before the half but only made 3 of 15 (20 percent) on 2-point tries.

The Trojans shot 50 percent from the floor but were forced into 11 turnovers.

The second half started sluggishly for Grace. The Lady Lancers needed over four minutes to register a point, which came from the foul line.

Kenzie McMahon made the first field goals of the third quarter for Grace, scoring on back-to-back layups.

But Grace was muted to just eight points in the third, and Taylor took advantage to grab a 16-point cushion.

The Lady Lancers were never able to make a significant charge in the fourth quarter, ultimately falling by 16.

After making nine 3-pointers in the first half, Grace made zero triples after halftime.

The Lady Lancers shot 36 percent from the floor as a team compared to 51 percent for the Trojans. Grace forced Taylor into 20 turnovers, but Grace was outrebounded by 15.

Hostetler's 19 points tied for scoring honors in the game, and she added 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

Patton added 12 points and two assists before fouling out, and McMahon tallied 10 points, 7 boards, 2 blocks and 2 steals. 

"This was a disappointing loss today. I didn't think we had a good performance overall. We expect more of ourselves. We need to be more consistent in every quarter and share the ball a lot better," said Grace head coach Dan Davis. "One thing we have to improve at is getting tougher as a team. When things don't go our way, we can't let it snowball. We need to put this loss behind us and refocus for the week ahead. We have not peaked yet as a team."

The Lady Lancers are home for three games next week, including Wednesday (vs Goshen), Thursday (vs Grace Christian) and Saturday (vs Huntington).
