Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Five players score in Grace’s rout of Bethel

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Grace's No. 15-ranked women's soccer team continued its torrid offensive pace with a 5-0 win at Bethel on Saturday.

The Lady Lancers (9-4-1, 4-1-1 Crossroads League) have won three straight games by a combined 14-1 score.

Five different players netted for Grace in the win, led by a goal and two assists by Alexis Larimore.

"Our work rate was top-notch tonight. Our group keeps a quality that is fun to watch," said Grace head coach Michael Voss. "There were quality shot creations and several superb finishes. This crew had a great match tonight."

It did not take Grace long to score the opening goal. Just four minutes into the match, the Lady Lancers struck.

Madison Tuma led Larimore with a pass on the right side of the field. Larimore advanced to the endline, then centered a pass to Sam Vondersaar who converted from close range.

With 15 minutes remaining in the half, Grace's lead doubled. Adelee Gartner was fouled deep in Grace's attacking end of the field. Lea Moessinger took the free kick quickly, finding Madison Tuma in the penalty box. Tuma found space in the box and placed her shot in the upper-90 of the goal frame for a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Lancers were not done scoring in the half, however. Larimore intercepted a pass, sped by a defender and then laced a blistering shot past the goalkeeper.

Minutes later, JJ Aalbue made it 4-0. She was fouled on an advance at Bethel's goal. She then placed her 20-yard free kick into the corner of the net just before halftime.

In the first half, Grace had 15 shots and six corner kicks. Eight of Grace's shots were on target.

The fifth and final goal came 10 minutes into the second half. Larimore burned by a defender on the right side of the field to spark the attack. After advancing to a dangerous position, she crossed into the box where Moessinger was ready to bury the shot on her first touch.

"The players just arriving back for us continue to build match fitness, and a small second group carried us," Voss continued. "Our opponent was relentless, organized and played very well. They were difficult to break down."

Libby Stratton and Bethany Blackwood combined to record the shutout as Grace's goalkeepers. Grace finished the match with a 23-2 shot advantage.

The Lady Lancers' next match is at Taylor on Saturday next week at 7 p.m.
