WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's men's basketball team secured a statement win, defeating No. 11 Marian 95-59 on Tuesday night.
The Lancers remain perfect on the season at 9-0 (2-0 Crossroads League), marking the best start since the 1991-92 season. The '91-92 team began the year 13-0, eventually claiming the NAIA national championship.
Frankie Davidson topped 30 points for the second straight game, amassing a game-high 35 points to go along with seven rebounds and no turnovers.
Grace shot an incredible 62 percent from the floor and 53 percent on 3-pointers in a dazzling performance at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
Grace's win sets up a showdown with the No. 1-ranked team in the nation next week at home. The Lancers will square off with No. 1 St. Francis on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in a must-watch game at the MOCC.
Grace took the lead early on Tuesday and did not relinquish it. The Lancers scored with a variety of players in the opening minutes to grab a 14-9 lead.
Davidson found a groove midway into the half. He scored eight points over a three-minute span to put Grace on top by eight.
Ian Scott then gave Grace a boost off the bench, converting three layups in the span of 105 seconds.
But Grace's offense went flat late in the half as Marian switched to a zone defense. The Lancers scored four points over the final five minutes, allowing Marian to pull within one.

Grace shot 50 percent from the floor but made just 2 of 7 (29 percent) from beyond the arc.
Marian shot 32 percent but hit 5 of 11 (46 percent) on 3-pointers. The Knights turned the ball over just two times as well.
Early in the second half, Grace erupted on a 9-0 run. Davidson hit a 3-pointer, and Eddie Gill IV scored twice.
Gill's last bucket was a steal and fastbreak dunk which forced a timeout by Marian with Grace leading 43-33.
The Lancers continued to roll, however, thanks to five points in a row from Davidson. Later, Gill split the zone defense and dished to Scott for an open dunk, putting Grace on top 50-36 to bring yet another timeout.
A few minutes later, Davidson threw down a vicious one-handed dunk on a break as the Lancers opened up a 54-36 lead with 13 minutes remaining.
Grace refused to cool off, putting Marian into a 32-point hole at 72-40 with 6:49 on the clock. Davidson made an array of jumpshots, and Stoltzfus converted an acrobatic reverse layup to keep Grace's crowd in a frenzy.
