MARION, Ind. - Grace's volleyball season came to a close on Saturday at the hands of No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan.
The Wildcats (22-4) defeated the Lady Lancers (13-18) in three sets in the quarterfinals of the Crossroads League Tournament.
Grace, the No. 7 seed in the bracket, struggled to get its offense on track against the No. 2 seed Wildcats. The Lady Lancers hit .008 as a team against IWU, and the Wildcats had a 45-23 advantage in kills.
Grace improved each set, but it was not enough as the Wildcats secured the sweep 25-9, 25-13 and 25-15.
Anna Frey was Grace's leading attacker with eight kills while adding 10 digs. Alisha Leffring finished with five kills.
Gina Novotny wrapped up her remarkable career with 14 digs. She finished the season with 565 digs. Novotny, the team's all-time digs leader, ended her career with 2,508 digs. She passed Melissa Rants (1994-97; 2,210 digs) for No. 1 in team history earlier this fall.
The Lady Lancers will return the majority of their young roster next year under head coach Katie Van Hofwegen with Novotny being the lone graduating player.
