MARION, Ind. - A group from Grace's women's tennis team competed in the ITA Regional Championships last week. The event was hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University from Sept. 28 - Oct. 1.
Jimena Ramirez made her Grace debut in fine fashion by advancing to the semifinal round of the singles main draw. She won four matches in the tournament, two in straight sets and two in a third set tiebreaker. In the semifinal, she fell to the eventual winner Melanie Dveksler 7-6 (1), 6-2.
Anna Graves won two matches in the main draw, knocking off the No. 5 seed in a three-set thriller in round one. She won her next match before falling in the third round.
Lydia Ruegsegger competed in the main draw, before moving to the consolation bracket. She won one match in the consolation bracket, 6-4, 3-6, 15-13.Â
In the B draw,
Addy Jarvis won one match 8-3.
Hallie Mast lost her first match, but won one in the consolation bracket.Â
The doubles main draw saw Ruegsegger and
Kiersten Martin partner together to win two matches. Ramirez and Graves also competed in the main draw before winning one match in the consolation bracket.Â
Grace will turn their attention back to team play this week to close out the fall season against Holy Cross.
