Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Grace wins second straight in CL play

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace's women's basketball picked up its second consecutive Crossroads League victory with a 74-57 victory over Goshen on Tuesday night.

Maddie Ryman and Kiersten Findley fueled the Lady Lancers (6-1, 2-0 CL) in the victory, as both players topped 20 points in the victory.

Goshen (5-2, 1-1 CL) and Grace traded the lead early as both teams connected from beyond the arc.

Kaylee Patton gave the Lady Lancers a five-point lead at the midpoint of quarter, and another trifecta from Ryman extended the lead. At the quarter break the Lady Lancers led 22-17.

In the second quarter Findley scored early and often. The junior guard opened the second stanza with a two-point bucket, which started a 10-point outpouring from Findley. Her 10 points fell just shy of matching the Maple Leafs team total of 11.

Kenzie McMahon scored a late layup and Findley connected on her second 3-point basket of the quarter as Grace took a 40-28 lead into the half.

Ryman opened the third quarter with a pair of free throws but it was Goshen who controlled the start of the second half.

Grace shot just 31 percent from the floor from the quarter as they were outscored by Goshen 16-11 in the quarter. The Lady Lancers led by seven entering the final quarter.

The Lady Lancers defense was suffocating in the fourth and Ryman was a force offensively as Grace dominated the final quarter.

Ryman scored 11 points in the quarter including a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe. Grace's defense held Goshen to just 28 percent shooting from the field.

The Lady Lancers converted from the line down the stretch as the salted away the 74-57. The 17-point margin was Grace's biggest win at Goshen in 10 years.

"Always good to get a win in a league this tough," said Grace head coach Dan Davis. "We defended well throughout the game and our offensive execution in the 4th was really good. We have so many girls who can step up on any given night which gives us a chance each and every night."

Ryman led all players with 23 points and Findley followed close behind with 20. Karlee Feldman scored seven points and grabbed seven points.

Grace shot 44 percent from the floor compared to 35 percent from Goshen. Grace won the battle on the boards 28-23.

The Lady Lancers will next be in action next week against Mt. Vernon on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
