SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Grace College's women's basketball team picked up a dominant 93-45 win over Spring Arbor on Wednesday night.
With the victory, Grace improved its record to 18-11 overall (8-9 Crossroads League). The victory ties the program record for most wins in a regular season. Grace will have a chance to break that record on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
The Lady Lancers will host Huntington on Saturday at 1 p.m. to wrap up the regular season. Grace will finish either No. 5 or No. 6 in the league standings, depending on the outcome of Saturday's matchups.
Karlee Feldman was unstoppable on Wednesday, shooting 12 of 14 for the floor. She amassed 26 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks in a strong performance.
Grace found success inside early, building a 10-3 lead. Feldman scored the Lady Lancers' first 10 points of the game.
An early timeout from the Cougars (4-22,1-13 CL) did little to quell the Lady Lancers' momentum. Kiersten Poor was the second Grace player to score, as her triple extended Grace's lead.
Kensie Ryman hit a pair of 3-point shots, and Kaylee Patton converted from mid-range as Grace continued to dominate on offensive.
Carissa Wiegman checked in and also found success in the paint. Grace's lead was 25-9 with three minutes to go in the quarter.
Peyton Murphy hit a triple, and Feldman continued to pour in the offense. Grace led 30-14 at the end of the first.
Feldman had 14 points in the first frame, and Grace was 4 of 7 from beyond the arc.
The Lady Lancers' offense was slowed to start the second quarter. Grace converted just one basket in the opening three minutes.
Feldman would break the drought for the Lady Lancers with another conversion in the paint. She later helped Grace's cause by assisting on a Patton trifecta as Grace maintained the double-digit lead.
A pair of 3-point plays from Poor and Kenzie McMahon pushed Grace's lead to 22.
Patton drilled a 3-pointer in the final seconds, and Grace entered the half with a comfortable 49-26 lead.
Feldman led all players with 16 points on 8 of 9 shooting. Grace shared the ball extensively with 16 assists on 19 made shots.
The Lady Lancers shot 57 percent from the floor and hit on 7 of 14 from beyond the arc.
Grace started the third right where they left off. Patton hit another 3-point shot, and Feldman scored the next four points as the Lady Lancers led 56-28.
Grace's defense was suffocating, allowing just one Spring Arbor basket through the first seven minutes.
Grace's lead eclipsed 30 points after Ryman hit from beyond the arc.
The Cougars had no answer for Grace's post offense as Feldman continued to dominate. She pushed the Lady Lancers lead to 65-28 with her 24th point of the game.
Karissa Lukasiewicz was subbed in, and immediately got her name in the scorebook. The freshman scored seven points to close the third.
The game entered the final quarter with Grace ahead 78-33. Weigman opened the scoring for Grace in the fourth, and Olivia Pearson hit a trifecta as Grace continued to cruise.
Kiara Gill, Kate Schlatter and Sally Mortensen all saw action as Grace wrapped up the 93-45 victory.
"We were clicking on all cylinders tonight," said Grace head coach Dan Davis. "At practice this week, we emphasized some key aspects, and our girls executed them to perfection. We are excited to finish out this season on Saturday and honor our seniors."
Patton scored 18 points, and Ryman was the third Lady Lancer in double digits with 11 points. Grace had 10 players score in the game.
Grace totaled 27 assists on the game, the programs highest mark since 2018. The Lady Lancers finished the game by shooting 53 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc.
The Lady Lancers won the battle on the boards 42-30 and outscored the Cougars 40-26 in the paint. Grace turned the ball over 10 times compared to Spring Arbor's 19.
Saturday's game with Huntington will also be Senior Day to honor Grace's graduating class.
