HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Grace women's tennis team earned a split in conference play against Huntington and Spring Arbor on Saturday. With one doubleheader remaining in the conference regular season, a good result could propel the Lady Lancers to a top-four finish. 

In the morning session, Grace (4-3, 3-3 CL) came out ahead on the score sheet with a 4-3 triumph over the host Foresters. Addy Jarvis and Anna Graves secured the doubles point after Lydia Ruegsegger and Kiersten Martin knocked off their opponent 6-2 at No. 1.

Graves continued her dominance at No. 1 singles to go ahead 2-0 after taking a three set tiebreaker 1-6, 6-2, 10-7. The next three points fell the way of the Foresters as they gained a narrow 3-2 lead with No. 6 singles still in action.

Gretchen Adams battled and was able to notch the decisive point to end the match in favor of the Lady Lancers. 

The match against Spring Arbor had a similar back-and-forth flair to it. This time, however, the Cougars would escape with the match 4-3. 

After the doubles point went in favor of the opposition, Grace looked to turn things around in singles matchups.Graves handled business from the No. 1 spot in a three set tiebreaker to bring the match square at one. Ruegsegger, No. 2 singles, tied the match again at two with her win 6-2, 6-1. 

The next two points would go to the Cougars and would be all they needed. Hallie Mast rounded out the scoring at No. 5 for Grace, but the match had already been clinched. 

The Lady Lancers will head to Indianapolis for the final day of conference play to face off against Goshen and RV Marian on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m.
