INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Grace's women's tennis team concluded conference play with a doubleheader against Goshen and Marian on Tuesday afternoon. It was a tough day on the courts as the Lady Lancers (4-5, 3-5 CL) fell 5-2 and 4-0 to finish the conference season in a tie for fifth place.
 
The day got off to a slow start as Goshen was able to score the doubles point 2-0 to gain the early momentum in the match.
 
Anna Graves continued her unbeaten run at No. 1 singles, winning in fine fashion 6-2, 6-1. Gretchen Adams was able to claw out the second point for Grace with her third set tiebreaker win at No. 6 singles 6-7, 7-5, 10-6 . That was all the team could muster as the Maple Leafs took three more points to claim the match 5-2. 
 
The second match of the day against Marian, who is receiving votes in the national poll, didn't go the way of the Lady Lancers either. 
 
The doubles point went to the Knights 2-0 despite the No. 1 doubles pairing with Kiersten Martin and Lydia Ruegsegger still in progress. 
 
Marian would earn the three points needed to clinch the match 4-0 from No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Ruegsegger was in a battle at No. 2 singles. Her match went to a third set tiebreaker, where she narrowly fell 6-4, 4-6, 7-10. Anna Graves, No. 1 singles, saw her matchup go unfinished as the match was played to the clinching point. 
 
The Lady Lancers will be the No. 5 seed and travel to Spring Arbor when the conference tournament rolls around on Sept. 20. They hold the head-to-head tiebreaker via the win over Huntington earlier in the season. 
 
Grace will welcome Judson University to Miller Athletic Complex on Thursday, Sept. 15, for a single match starting at 4:30 p.m.
